Single Player

Practice session

: Here you can test lakes and equipment without any pressure from competition or timelimit. Follow me through a practice session where I will go through different features of the game.


Single game

: Play a single game against computer players. As with practice, choose lake, starting place (if the chosen lake have more than one starting place), season and time of day, but in single game you also choose game duration and game type.

: The game duration can be chosen to be 10min, 15min, 30min, 1h, 1.5h or 2h.

: The game types that can be played depends on the lake you have chosen. See game type index for full overview of game types.

: You compete against 5 computer-players in fulfilling the goal of the game type. And you have to return to the start area to weigh the fish before time runs out, or else you get disqualified. The last minute of the game you will be reminded of this by a ticking sound, and red-blinking countdown timer.


Short cup

: Short cup is just what it sound like, a short cup with randomized lakes and game types.

: When you start a short cup you have two options. Start a new cup, or continue an existing cup. First time select Start a new cup, and off you go.

: Then you can select race length and difficulty. First time you only have the option to choose Easy or Medium difficulty, Hard difficulty isn't available until you finish the Medium difficulty. Beware that in Easy difficulty no records will be recorded.

: In Easy difficulty you will be competing on 4 different lakes against 5 computer players. Medium difficulty will be 7 lakes against 9 computer players and in Hard difficulty it will be 10 lakes against 14 computer players.

: First 6 places in each game get cup points. The winner of the cup is the player with the highest score after all lakes in the cup is finished.

: If you place in the top 3 in a game, you win a lure that you will keep for the rest of the cup.


Multi Player

Join network game

: When you are bored of playing against computer players, you can join a network game. There is always a game going on, somewhere...

: A network game can be a public internet host, a private internet host or a local network host.

: When joining a network game you will be presented with a public host list. You can sort the list by clicking on the title-field of each of the columns, or refresh the list by clicking Refresh at the bottom of the screen.

: The columns are:

  • Host name: Name of the host.
  • Current lake: The name of the lake currently played.
  • Players: How many players are currently playing and the maximum number of players that is admitted by the host.
  • Info: This can be blank, or stating if the host is an official records host, or an autohost. If a password is needed to join it will also be stated here.
  • Nation: Nationality of the host, if the host has entered this in his Player setup settings.

: By hovering your mouse over a host you can read more info below the list:

  • Host name: Full name of the host.
  • Game address: The IP-address of the host, and the port used for the game.
  • Time left: Shows time left of current competition, and total time of the competition.
  • Description: Here you can read the welcome-message if the host has used the /hello command to create a welcome-message for the host.

: When you select a host, you can click "Show Players" to see who is playing on this host.

: Click "Join" to start playing.

: Or if you know the IP-address to a private host or want to connect to a local network host you can click Cancel on the Public host screen. Then you get the possibility to manually enter the IP-address and port you want to connect to. You also have access to an Address list with all the servers you have connected to in the past.

: After a confirmation of Connection established successfully, you arrive in the game lobby where you can read the Lake info, go to settings to change your default equipment or chat with the other players.

: You can also execute different commands in the chat. A command is started with /(slash) and a following command. All commands available can be found in the ReadMe_P2_releaseNotes.rtf-file installed with the game. Shortcut is available on your Windows start menu in the Propilkki2 program group.

Commands for players:

  • /admin - Shows if the player has admin rights
  • /admin xx - Gets admin-rights with password xx.
  • /names - Displays player names and corresponding IDs (used in private messages). Shows also the waiting players with their waiting times.
  • /N message - Sends a private message to player N
  • /T message - Sends a team message. Only players of the own team see it.
  • /ver - Displays the game version of the host
  • /help - Shows the list of available commands

: So if you want to send a private message to another player with the nick Simon, start by writing /names in the chat and press enter. You will get a list of the players in the competition with a ID-number placed in brackets, like this: [5] Simon. To send a private message to Simon, you can write /5 what did you say? and press enter, then Simon will get a private message saying: what did you say?.


Create network game

: As you can host while your playing, anyone can be a host, and you can easily host your own competition with just a few clicks.

: When you create a network game you will be asked if you want your game to be listed in the public host list. If you want to host a public internet game, answer Yes. Or if you just want to have a local network game or a private internet game answer No.

: After answering this question you will enter the interface you see below.

: To the left you have the possibility to manually add and remove players. You can also add computer players from different difficulties, these players will be marked with 1, 2 or 3 stars according to their difficulty level. If "Select all players automatically" at the bottom are ticked off, the players will be added automatically when they join the host.

: You can click Continue at the bottom to set lake and others parameters of the competition you wish to host. And then you can Start the competition and begin waiting for others to join in on the fun.

: But before you start hosting there are a couple of more things we can set with the use of commands in the chat interface. Below you can see an excerpt from the "ReadMe_P2_releaseNotes.rtf" where you can see all the commands available for the admins and the host.

: Here are some examples of useful commands to get you started:

: Set a welcome message. This will be the first message players get when joining, and also the Description in the public host list.
Use /hello [your message here, without brackets], the message length is limited to 115 characters including spaces.

: Use /lures on to give the players 6 extra randomized lures. These lures will be randomized for each new competition. To turn this off and only use the default lures, use /lures off.

: Use /results 1 to display results every minute through the competition. You can set this to your likings in whole minutes, but no results will be shown after 3 minutes remaining of the competition. If this command is not used, no results will be shown through the competition.

: Use /autoban on to turn on cheat detection. This detects for the speed-cheat that allow players to 'teleport' instead of running. Players suspected of using this speed-cheat is kicked out after two warnings. But sometimes 'lagging' in players internet connection can give a false positive, so if you trust your players you can turn it off with /autoban off.

: Use /players 16 to set maximum players to 16. You can set this to any number you like between 1 and 31.

: You can use any or none of these commands to host your competition, but if you are hosting a public competition you should at least use /hello and /autoban on. For more commands see below.

: Then go ahead and start hosting your competition. Good luck!

: If you tick off the box at the bottom marked "Run games automatically" you will notice a countdown timer in the top left corner counting down to the next gamestart (default waiting time is 120 seconds). Then the selected competition starts, and when it finishes the timer start to run again, and a random lake, gametype, season and time of day will be chosen for next gamestart. Game length will stay the same as the first competition and the randomizing of the lakes is organized in a way that the same lake will not be selected before all other lakes have been chosen. This is in principle the easiest way to autohost a game, but for more options see the autohosting section.

: If you are thinking of running a more permanent host with the same setting every time, or even make a playlist of competitions, you should look at autohosting.

Commands for the game host:

  • /admin xx - Sets admin-password to xx. Password is removed with: /admin off. (check corresponding command for players).
  • /host xx - Sets host-password to xx. Password is removed with: /host off.
  • /wait n - Sets the wait time between competitions (autohost).
  • /password xx - Sets the game password to xx. Password is asked from players before entering the games. Password is removed with: /password off.
  • /spect [on/off] - Off = Players on ice cannot see the chat of spectators (waiting players). Host can still see it.
  • /script [file.txt] - Sends or performs 10 chat-messages or commands from text-file. File must be located in "static"-folder. Commands from a file "autohost.ini" are performed automatically every time when the host is started.
  • /lures [on/off/all] - Six extra lures are randomized for each competition. "All" = all lures available.
  • /exit - Shuts down the game after sending notification to all players. Command must be given two times in a row.

: Commands for admins (and the host):

  • /hello - Sets welcome text. This is text is also shown in the public host list, if the game is listed there.
  • /timer N [text] - Sets a break-timer (N minutes) and a description text for it. It is shown as a count-down for all the players in waiting state. If the game is on, timer starts to run when the competition is finished.
  • /results N - In-game results to chat in every N minutes (top 10)
  • /mute N - Mutes player N out of general chat. Only private messages are allowed.
  • /unmute N - Removes muting of player N.
  • /kick - Lists the players and corresponding numbers.
  • /kick N - Kicks out player N and prevents connection for 5 minutes.
  • /kick N X - Kicks out player N and prevents connection for X minutes.
  • /unban - Allows again all IP-addresses banned with kick-command.
  • /admins - Shows all players with admin rights.
  • /autoban [on/off] - If speed cheating is detected, kicks out player and prevents connection (24h)
  • /players N - Sets the upper limit for the player amount in the network game
  • /in N - Selects player N into game
  • /out N - De-selects player N from the game (allowed only in lobby)
